In 2021 HSL began a new project to benefit the literacy fund. "A Parade of Trees" was held at the Hartwell Art Center and many organizations, buisnesses, and individuals participated by creatively decorating a themed Christmas tree. The trees were on display for 3 days during which, the public could view them, vote on their favorite, and silently bid on a tree. The project was a great success, raising money for literacy projects and providing a fun, festive event for the town. In recent years, the event has moved to the Depot at Railroad Street Park. There is an increased demand for the trees, and the event continues to be fun for the community and a successful fundraiser for HSL.
